Rhine Ruhr Metropolitan Region, Germany
Cologne International School, located in the Rhine Ruhr Metropolitan Region of Germany, is an esteemed and fully accredited IB World School. Serving approximately 475 students from ages 6 to 18, the school prides itself on a unique blend of the North Rhine-Westphalian curriculum and the international IB-PYP curriculum, ensuring a rigorous and comprehensive educational experience. The school provides a bilingual teaching approach in German and English for students in grades 1 to 5, which transitions smoothly into an International Secondary School curriculum geared toward the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. This approach fosters not only academic excellence but also equips students with essential 21st-century skills such as empathy, critical thinking, independence, and responsibility.
The school, which recently moved to a new, ecologically sustainable 19,000 m² campus at Butzweilerhof, offers a flexible full-day program that includes early morning care starting at 7:30 a.m. and a variety of after-school activities until 5:30 p.m. The new campus is not only a model of energy efficiency but also offers expansive outdoor “green areas” for students to enjoy. A modern boarding facility is available on campus for students aged 15 and above, providing a supportive environment for those who wish to complete their education away from home. With an average class size of 20 and a maximum of 24 students per class, Cologne International School ensures a low teacher-to-student ratio, allowing for a highly personalized and attentive educational experience.
