GIS – The International School of São Paulo

GIS – The International School of São Paulo, located in the bustling city of São Paulo, Brazil, offers a premier education experience for children aged 2 to 11. This innovative institution adheres to the rigorous standards of the International Baccalaureate (IB), with its primary language of instruction being English. Despite being an international school, Brazilian culture and the Portuguese language are deeply integrated into the curriculum through dedicated Portuguese classes and culturally enriching activities and celebrations. As part of its commitment to international education, the school operates on a northern hemisphere academic calendar, starting in August and concluding in July.

Established in 2019, GIS – The International School of São Paulo is a relatively new school that is expanding each year as its students progress. Initially catering to children up to Year 1 (6-year-olds), the school will extend its offerings to include Year 2 (7-8 year-olds) from August 2023. The mission of GIS is to provide both expatriate and local families with a broad, balanced, and challenging international education, with an emphasis on creating responsible lifelong learners through the IB Primary Years Programme. This approach leverages technology and fosters authentic, inquiry-based learning experiences.

In its early childhood segment, the school adopts the Reggio Emilia approach, a philosophy that views children as strong, capable, resilient, and filled with wonder. This innovative and inspiring methodology focuses on fostering children's exploration and discovery from a very young age, starting at 18 months.
